What is the High Risk Infant Program?

It is a voluntary home visitation program for families with children from birth up through 5 years of age.

How does a family get a home visit by a Public Health Nurse?

Children are referred by doctors, hospitals, social workers, or the children's family can request a visit.

Who does the program serve?

Anyone who lives in Fresno County and has a child under 6 years old.

How will the High Risk Infant Program help?

Growth monitoring of the child, developmental evaluation of the child, education on feeding, immunizations, information on medical conditions the child may have, development, safety, and resources in the community.

The HRIP is a short term visitation program lasting anywhere from 3 to 6 months. The number of visits is dependant on the Public Health Nurse & family deciding this together. The home visits are voluntary.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost - the program is free.
