The PHN offers support and education for pregnant women and children who have challenging medical or developmental conditions and environmental stressors. The goal of the Family Health Nursing Program is to promote healthy pregnancies and birth outcomes as well as reduce re-hospitalizations and child maltreatment.
The Public Health Nurse will provide:
- Physical assessments
- Developmental screenings
- Needs assessment and subsequent links to resources
- Education on a healthy pregnancy
- Education on child health topics such as immunizations, nutrition, and child development
