Co-Occurring InformationFresno County individuals and families with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders are too frequently unserved, poorly served or under-served by both providers of mental health and substance abuse treatment services. These individuals are provided services that are often not integrated, not person or family centered, not effective or cost efficient. this results in over-utilization of criminal justice, health care, child protective, and homeless shelter services. Clients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders may be the most commonly represented group seeking behavioral health services.
