Fresno County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event planned for Saturday, January 20, 2018


FRESNO, CA – The Fresno County Department of Public Works and Planning will hold a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event for Fresno and Clovis residents on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

The event is “By Appointment Only” and space is limited. Fresno and Clovis residents interested in participating are asked to call 877-422-0096 and reserve a time to drop off their HHW items. Upon making a reservation, residents will be provided specific location and drop off information for the day of the event.

This HHW collection event will provide residents of Fresno and Clovis an opportunity to remove household hazardous materials from their homes. Aiming to receive as many as 1,500 vehicles in one day, the event will be one of the largest of its kind ever held in Fresno County.


Accepted HHW items include:

Ammonia-based cleaners; Fluorescent tubes and bulbs; Ballasts; Aerosol cans; Spot removers; Drain/oven cleaners; Polish; Deodorizers; Sharps (Needles/lancets MUST be in rigid container with lid taped shut); Televisions; Small appliances (toasters, microwaves, power tools); Wood preservatives; Stains; Photographic chemicals; Paint, paint thinner, paint removers; Insect sprays; Weed killers; Pool chemicals; Pesticides; Anti-freeze; Brake fluid; Rust preventative; Used motor oil and filters; BBQ tanks


Items NOT accepted include:

Medical waste (except sharps); Radioactive materials; Explosives; Gun powder; Ammunition; asbestos; tires; large appliances; garbage




A typical home can contain an array of household hazardous products for cleaning, painting, beautifying, lubricating and disinfecting the house, yard, workshop and garage. These items should not be placed in the regular trash can and must be disposed of in a safe environment.
