Borgeas Hosts Community Meeting on Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management
FRESNO, CA — On Monday night at Fresno’s Woodward Park Library, local leaders in disaster response joined with community members for an important discussion about emergency preparedness and disaster management.
The meeting, hosted by Fresno County Supervisor Andreas Borgeas, provided an opportunity for community members to learn more about local plans and efforts to respond to disasters and important information about how to prepare for and reduce the risk of emergencies.
“In response to local concerns, and given the recent shootings, fires and flooding in our own backyard, we felt compelled to have a public discussion that covers a broad range of emergency preparedness topics,” said Supervisor Borgeas. “Preparedness is a group effort, so it is important that we have these discussions and learn what we can do collectively to help keep our communities safe.”
Taking part in the discussion were representatives from the local disaster response community including Fresno County Sheriff, Margaret Mims; CAL Fire Chief Mark Johnson; and officials representing the Fresno County Office of Emergency Services, City of Fresno Police and Fire Departments, Central Valley Red Cross and Central California’s Animal Disaster Team.
