CANDIDATE FILING OPENS DECEMBER 14, 2017
FRESNO, CA– Brandi Orth, Fresno County Clerk and Registrar of Voters, announces the opening of the candidate filing period for the June 5, 2018 Primary Gubernatorial Election. The Signatures-in-Lieu of Filing Fee process opens Thursday, December 14, 2017 and continues through Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
This optional process is a mechanism for prospective candidates to collect voter signatures, in their district. A dollar value has been assigned to each signature in a specific race, which can be used to off-set the cost of their candidate filing fee. The Signatures-in-Lieu of Filing Fee can also be utilized to meet the Nomination signature requirement.
If prospective candidates elect to not participate in the optional Signatures-In-Lieu of Filing Fee process, other deadlines are as follows:
- Judicial Declaration of Intent period opens January 29, 2018,
- Declaration of Candidacy and Nomination period opens February 12, 2018, and
- The candidate filing period will end March 9, 2018.
