Who do you keep death certificates for?

The Vital Statistics Program at the Fresno County Department of Public Health maintains death records for people who died in Fresno County during the current and previous year. For Fresno County deaths prior to these years, contact the Fresno County Assessor - Recorder's Office (Hall of Records) at (559) 600-3476. Our office can not assist with death certificates for deaths that occur outside of Fresno County. For deaths occurring outside of Fresno County please contact the county in which the death occurred.

We DO NOT accept requests for copies, nor do we provide copies, by fax, e-mail or over the Internet.
