WHAT IS THE FRESNO COUNTY

INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM?

 (ILP)

fresno

The Independent Living Program (ILP) provides services to Fresno County probation and foster youth ages 14-21.  Our goal is to provide them with a sense of community and belonging while providing them with the necessary skills and support to obtain self-sufficiency.  ILP Social Workers assist in the development of a transition plan, academic advising, employment referrals, housing assistance and are advisors for EXPLORERS and YONI.

WHAT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED THROUGH ILP?

Fresno County ILP offers activities/workshops that assist youth in preparing them for independent living.

These workshops included, but are not limited to:

·  Fresno City Life Skills classes

·  Fresno County Explorers

· California Youth Connection

· Youth Organizing New Ideas (YONI)

· Transitional Housing Assistance

· Planned Parenthood workshop

In addition to...

  • Financial Aid workshop
  • Special Event Celebrations
  • High School Graduation Celebration
  • ILP Kickoff
  • Baby City event

WHAT ARE ILP AFTERCARE SERVICES?

Once a youth’s case is dismissed from Juvenile Dependency Court or their Juvenile Probation case is dismissed, eligible youth may continue to receive ILP services. The youth must meet with an ILP Social Worker to open up an aftercare case.  This aftercare case entitles the youth to receive services until the age of 21.
