Gills Onions LLC, an Oxnard, California establishment is expanding its recall on diced and slivered, and diced onion/celery mix because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria.
Attached is a preliminary list of Fresno County retailers identified as receiving the recalled onion products for both the July 17, 2012 recall and the 7/25/12 expanded recall.
River Ranch Fresh Foods, LLC of Salinas, CA is expanding its voluntary recall of retail and foodservice bagged salads, because they have the potential of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Retail salad products under this recall were distributed throughout the United States and Canada under various sizes and packaged under the brand names of River Ranch, Farm Stand, Hy-Vee, Shurfresh, and The Farmer’s Market.
Foodservice salad products under this recall were distributed throughout the United States and Canada under various sizes and packaged under the brand names of River Ranch and Sysco.
The recalled retail and foodservice salad bags have either “Best By” code dates between 12MAY2012 – 29MAY2012 or Julian dates of 118 and 125. The code date is typically located in the upper right hand corner of the bags.

Odwalla Inc. a Dinuba, California establishment is recalling Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster beverage due to reports of severe allergic reactions from consumers who have sensitivities to peanuts and/or tree nuts. The beverage is packaged in 12-oz and 32-oz bottles with “enjoy by” dates prior to and including 23 MAY 2012.
GH Foods CA LLC, a Sacramento, California establishment is recalling sandwiches containing hard-cooked eggs due to potential contamination by Listeria monocytogenes. The eggs were supplied by Michael Foods, Inc. who issued a nationwide recall on 2/1/12.
S. Martinelli’s & Company, a Watsonville, CA establishment, is recalling certain lots of Martinelli’s Gold Medal Sparkling Cider in six-pack, shrink-bundled, 250 ml glass bottles due to the possibility of a defective seal that could break when opening the bottle.
CB&M, Inc. a Mt. Vernon, Missouri establishment is recalling “O Organic” Celery Seed due to possible salmonella contamination.
Attached is a list of Fresno County retailers identified as receiving the recalled celery seed products. Please note, this product was also packaged under the brand name: “Swanson Health Products” 100% Organic Celery Seed, however, California distribution for this product was limited to mail orders and on-line.
Crystal Geyser/Tejava, a Calistoga, California establishment is recalling a limited quantity of 12-oz. Tejava Premium Iced Tea due to the possible presence of glass fragments.
Ocean Spray is recalling certain lots of its Original Flavor Craisins, Dried Cranberries product in 5-ounce, 10-ounce, 48-ounce packages, and bulk sweetened dried cranberries in 10-pound packages due to the possible presence of small hair-like metal fragments. The affected products have various Best by Dates ranging from 10/27/12 to 11/11/12. All affected products have Best by Dates that are followed by the letter “M”.
Please find the attached CDPH press release for four candy products that were found to be contaminated with lead. All four of these products were imported from India, and the levels of lead ranged between 0.13 to 0.69 parts per million (ppm). Candies with levels of lead above 0.10 ppm are considered adulterated and should not be consumed but discarded immediately.
The distribution of the candy products were throughout the state. In Fresno County, Shan E Punjab located at 4175 W Shaw may have received these products. The Press Release shows photos of the candy products. Consumers who find any of these candies for sale are encouraged to call the CDPH Complaint Hotline at 1-800-495-3232.

Four Sugar Candies Recall News Release November 17, 2011
Ready Pac Foods, Inc. of Irwindale, California is recalling 5,379 cases of bagged salad products containing Romaine Lettuce with the Use-By-Date of November 18, 2011 because they may be contaminated with E. Coli O157:H7. The romaine and salad products containing romaine were distributed to Raley’s, Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Stater Brothers and Mollie Stones retail stores.

Rite Aid Corp, a Camp Hill, PA establishment is recalling 85,000 tins of butter cookies due to possible contamination with Bacillus cereus. The recall affects only 12 ounce tins featuring either a decorative castle or Christmas designs and sold exclusively in Rite Aid stores.
Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, an El Segundo, California establishment is voluntarily recalling fresh bagged washed spinach because of a possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The contamination was detected in a bag of spinach obtained by the US Food and Drug Administration. The recalled washed spinach is marketed in 12 oz bags under the “f&e” brand and contain an “Enjoy by” date of Oct 16. Because of this expiration date, CDPH does not believe there is product currently available for sale to consumers.
Farms Retail Inc. a Salinas, California establishment is recalling 3,265 cases of various salad blends containing spinach because of possible Salmonella contamination. The contamination was detected in a package of spinach in a random test by the State of Washington. The recall involves various brand names including; Fresh Selections, HEB, Marketside, and Taylor Farms. The affected products have “Best By” or “Guaranteed Fresh by Dates” ranging from 10/18/2011 through 10/21/2011.
Landshire, Inc., a St. Louis, MO establishment is recalling 1,751 cases of the Nike All-American Sandwich because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes. The Nike All-American Sandwiches were distributed nationwide including Wal-Mart Stores in California. The sandwich is individually wrapped in a white package, weighing 7.25 ounces. Sandwiches contain a UPC code of “0 9748801741 5” and lot number “11 237 6”.
Pepperidge Farms, a Norwalk, Conn. establishment, is recalling a limited quantity of 10.2 ounce boxes of Baked Naturals Sesame Sticks due to the possible presence of small, thin pieces of wire. The recalled product is marked with a yellow “20% More!” banner across the top of the package flap. The product has various “Sell by” codes on the top package flap ranging from November 20, 2011 through January 1, 2012..
Kraft Foods a Northfield, IL establishment is recalling three varieties of Velveeta Shells and Cheese Microwaveable cups with limited “Best when used by” dates because of possible presence of small, thin wire bristle pieces. The recalled products were of various sizes and UPC codes. Approximately 137,000 cases were shipped to customers across the U.S.
Cargill Meat Solutions Corp, a Springdale, Arkansas establishment is recalling approximately 185,000 pounds of fresh, ground turkey products because of possible Salmonella contamination. The ground turkey is sold at FoodsCo and Food4Less under the Kroger, Honeysuckle and HEB brand names.
Vita Food Products, Inc., a Chicago, IL establishment, is recalling 8,088 individual retail packages of Vita Classic Premium Sliced Smoked Atlantic Nova Salmon with the SELL BY DEC 15 2011 01961B”. The salmon is packaged in 4 oz. vacuum-packed packaging that is black in color. The packages bear the Vita logo centered at the bottom and contain 4-5 slices of smoked salmon. The SELL BY Date and Code of DEC 15 2011 01961B is centered in the window on the front of each package. The product was sold to Von's, Pavilion and Safeway stores throughout California.
Fresh Food Concepts, Inc., a Buena Park, CA establishment is recalling various Layered Dip products containing guacamole that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The layered dips have a Use by Date of September 16, 2011 and were sold to retail locations throughout California under a variety of brand names. Attached is a list of Fresno County retailers identified as receiving the recalled Layer Dip products.
Cargill Meat Solutions, Springdale, AR issued a recall of approximately 36 million pounds of fresh and frozen ground turkey products with sell by dates from 2/20/1011 through 8/23/2011. The ground turkey products processed by Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation are sold under the following brand names: Honeysuckle, Riverside, Kroger, Safeway, Giant Eagle, HEB, Aldi’s Fit & Active Fresh, Spartan, and Shady Brook Farms. Foremost Foods, International, Inc. of Pomona, CA, is issuing a recall on certain Tomi brand dried seafood products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. The products were manufactured by Kien Long Seafood Company Ltd. of Vietnam and were distributed to a Manila Seafood store in National City and Seafood City stores throughout California.
Dr. Mark Horton, director of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), today warned consumers not to eat “Candy El Pecas Saladitos con Chile” and “Candy El Pecas Saladitos con Limon” imported from China after CDPH tests found elevated levels of lead.
Banner Mountain Sprouts, a Sacramento, CA establishment is recalling all non-organic alfalfa sprouts. The products are packaged in four-ounce, clear, flexible, clamshell plastic containers with green labels containing sell by dates from September 7 to October 8, 2010.
The California Department of Public Health has issued an advisory concerning DaiJyoBu Ginger Candy imported from China, due to elevated levels of lead. The Ginger Candy is sold in an 8 ½” x 6” plastic bag containing six individually wrapped pieces of candy.

Zemco Industries, a Buffalo, N.Y., establishment, is recalling approximately 380,000 pounds of deli meat products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The deli meats were used in Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches and distributed nationwide to Wal-Mart stores.
