Pine Flat Recreation Area


Pine Flat Recreation Area, a 170 acre park, is PERMANENTLY CLOSED and no longer available for public recreational use.

Pine Flat Recreation Area is below the Pine Flat Dam along the Kings River. It is approximately 34 miles east of Fresno. Drive east on Highway 180 (Ventura Street) from downtown Fresno for 17.5 miles. Turn left onto Piedra Road and drive another 8.2 miles to where Piedra Road intersects with Trimmer Springs Road. Turn right on Trimmer Springs Road for 2.3 miles to Pine Flat Road. Pine Flat Recreation Area is on the right and begins shortly after passing the intrance to Choinumni Park. Continue up Pine Flat Road for 2 miles, cross the Kings River and immediately on the right and left are the day-use areas. Serveral hundred yards ahead, on the right is Pine Flat Campground.

The upper Pine Flat Recreation Area was established by a lease agreement with the Department of Army in 1955.
