Food Assistance


The Department of Social Services has a program that offers supplemental assistance with paying for food. When you apply for Food Assistance, you have rights and responsibilities. Your most important right is to be treated fairly without regard to race, color, national origin, political beliefs, religion, gender, age, or disability.

Who May Be Eligible for Food Assistance?

  • Low-income families or individuals (even if you own your home, vehicles, or have other resources, like bank/retirement accounts).
  • Homeless persons
  • Both citizens and some non-citizens
