Visiting Information


Family visits are encouraged in order to maintain and strengthen the minor’s relationship with the family. 




 The following may be placed upon the minor’s list of approved visitors and will be permitted to visit upon providing proper identification:

1.   Parents Valid ID from Government Agency
2.  Stepparents (if stepparent is living in the home) Valid ID from Government Agency
3.  Grandparents Valid ID from Government Agency
4.  Minor’s child Birth Certificate certified copy or orginal
5.  Minor’s spouse Marriage license and Valid ID from Government Agency
6.  Anyone approved by the Director, Probation Officer, Juvenile Court ID as required by Watch Commander.

A.  Visiting privileges may be suspended, for good cause, for any or all minors at the discretion of  the Watch Commander, Program SJCO, or the facility Administration.
B. Visitors under the influence of alcohol/drugs will not be admitted. the smell of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances on the breath will be considered presumptive evidence of being under the influence of said substances.
C. Visitors refusing to comply with established search, security and visiting procedures will not be admitted.
D. Visitors attempting to bring contraband into the facility will not be admitted.
E. The Watch Commander has the absolute responsibility for conducting visiting.  In order to properly protect minors, visitors, and facility security, the Watch Commander has the authority to modify, suspend, or make exception to any portion of the visiting policy, procedure, or rules.



Regular visiting will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday by designated housing Pod. There will be no visiting on Wednesday and Thursday.  The schedule  times will be from 3:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.  on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and from 8:10 AM to 1:45 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Regular visiting will be conducted in the non-contact visiting rooms by scheduled appointments only.  You will need to schedule the appointments from Friday - Tuesday. No visiting on Wednesday and Thursday. Visiting will not be scheduled to interfere with the minor's meal time.




Special visits may occur as follows:

1.  Admission visit – Minor may have a visit with parents within 24 hours following admission to the facility
2.   Christmas Visit –All minors will be permitted to have family visiting at the discretion of Probation Admistration
3. Special Need Visits – The Director, Probation Services Manager/Assistant Director, Watch Commander, Program SJCO., Probation Officer, or Juvenile Court may authorize special needs visits for a minor.  These visits may be authorized for cause when the best interests of the minor and the facility can be served by permitting such a visit.





  • Regular family visits will be held in the respective visiting area of the Detention and Commitment facilities, except for J-Pod minors which will be held in the Detention non-contact visiting rooms.
  • Special visits will be held in the visiting area of the detention and Commitment facilities.
  • Restricted visits will be held in the non-contact visiting rooms





  • No weapons are allowed in the Institution.  Personal effects, including purses, pocket knives, nail files, large nail clippers, cell phones, pens, pencils, etc. are not allowed.
  •  Visitors are required to present a valid photo identification when visiting.
  • Visitors will be subject to metal detector screening no exceptions.
  • Minors are allowed a minimum of one (1) hour of visits per week.
  •  Lockers may be provided for individuals not having an alternative method of leaving property behind when visiting.
  • Property for minors may be left on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Acceptable items include stamps, envelopes, wireless notebooks, a paperback book and magazines (from list of approved magazines only).
  • Children are not to be left unattended in the waiting room, vehicles, or outside the Institution. They must be supervised by an adult at all times while outside.
  • Visitors may purchase soft drinks and snack items from the canteen.  No articles may be brought into the Institution when visiting.  Snacks and drinks must be consumed during visiting hours.  No items shall be allowed to be stored away or saved for a minor.

  • Only four (4 ) visitors per child will be permitted at a time.
  • Visitation will be denied to anyone who appears to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
  • Visits may be shortened or terminated, for cause, by the Watch Commander.
  •  Visitors are expected to comply immediately, when asked to leave the building.
