AOWP Frequently Asked Questions

 

Q. Who is eligible for the Adult Offender Work Program? 

A.

(a) In order to be eligible the Adult Offender Work Program the defendant must be able to perform physical labor.
(b) Must be available to work at least two 8 hour work days a week
(c) Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the job site or have the ability to be transported two and from the work site if your License is revoked.
(d.) Must pay all programs fees: $60.00 interview fee and $10.00 per day. Depending on the number of days the fee for days will be separated into a payment schedule.
 

Q. What is the maximum and minimum number of days you will accept on

A.

The maximum number of days we will accept are 90 days and the Minimum is 1 day 
 

Q. Do you accept transfers or transfer to other counties?

A.

(a) As long as we have a reciprocal agreement with the other County we accept transfer provided the case meets the eligibility requirements.
(b) If Fresno County Courts grants defendant request to transfer and we have a reciprocal agreement with the receiving County than we transfer provided the defendant meets the eligibility requirements.
 
Q. How do I schedule an appointment?

A.

 (a) Your can make an appointment at the Fresno County Courthouse Action Center on Van Ness and Tulare or you can call the Adult Offender Work Program Office at (559) 600-6040.
(b) When you call to schedule an appointment, the following information needs to be provided: Court case# and Court ordered stay date. (Appointments are booked 5 to 6 weeks in advance)
 
Q. What if the court orders me to be on the program immediately?

A.

 We also have walk-in days on Tuesdays and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Keep in mind walk-ins are on a first come first served bases and a limited number of appointments will be seen
 

Q. What if I do not want to participate in the Program?

A.

You must surrender yourself into custody on the Court ordered stay date.
 
Q. What if I am denied participation on the program?

A.

You must surrender yourself into custody on the Court ordered stay date.
 
Q. What if I do not live in Fresno but one of the neighboring towns/cities in Fresno County?

A.

We have worksites in almost every city in the County of Fresno. During the intake interview, if possible will attempt to send you to a work site in proximity to your home.
 

Q. Are there cases you will not accept on the Adult Offender Work  Program

A.

(a) Most case are accepted; however, serious felonies as described in section 1192.7 of the penal code are often denied.
(b) Pending other serious charges
(c) Has been removed from the program before due to violation of rules.
 
Q. What if I have multiple cases will I be denied?

A.

As long as the total does not exceed the maximum of 90 days.
