Training Courses

The following courses are offered to County of Fresno department employees.  If you are a Fresno County employee and would like to enroll in training, you may email the HR-Training inbox or call 559- 600-1850.

New Employee Training Program (For new employees only)

All new employees hired by the County of Fresno are required to attend the New Employee Training provided by Human Resources staff.  New Employee Training consists of:Business Training

Safety Training

Risk Management has implemented and maintained an ongoing safety training program.  It's purpose is to comply with regulatory requirements for maintaining an active and effective safety program while maintaining a commitment to reduce workers' compensation and liability exposure.  We encourage all county departments to participate in these free or low cost training courses.

Training Courses

The online and self study training courses provided below are designed to educate appropriate staff on responsibilities in the event of a disaster within Fresno County. Before participating in these courses, staff should check with their department to determine which courses are applicable and necessary for participation.

Upon successful completion of these courses you will be provided with certificates of completion. You should print these certificates and provide a copy to your Department Training Coordinator. You will be credited for this training through the County's Training Register.  

NOTE: A certificate will not be generated for the SEMS introduction and SEMS Emergency Operation Center (EOC) training. You will need to send your exam to Kenneth Austin with the Office of Emergency Services at stop 178. Once the test has been corrected you will be credited for this training.

SEMS Introduction- This course is required for all staff with responsibilities for emergency management and incident response. Length, 2 hours.

SEMS EOC- The SEMS Emergency Operations Center (EOC) course provides participants with the necessary background to function in EOCs at all SEMS levels using the five functions specified in the SEMS regulation.  Download the course material, exam, and the EOC section handbook that pertains to your EOC assignment. Length, 4-6 hours.

Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS-100) - This course is intended for persons involved with emergency planning, response or recovery efforts. Length, 3 hours. 

Introduction to NIMS (IS-700.A) - This course is for individuals with emergency management responsibilities including prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. Length, 3 hours. 

National Response Framework, an Introduction (IS- 800.B) - This course is intended for government executives, private-sector and nongovernmental organization (NGO) leaders, and emergency management practitioners.  This includes senior elected and appointed leaders, such as Federal department or agency heads, State Governors, mayors, tribal leaders, and city or county officials – those who have a responsibility to provide for effective response. Length, 3 hours.
